Do you feel like your life is spiraling out of control? Do you feel obligated or “guilt-ed” into saying yes to everyone’s requests? Are you constantly at the beck and call of your children, parents, the church or your boss? If so, you might benefit from learning about setting appropriate boundaries.
Boundaries – When to Say Yes, How to Say No To Take Control of Your Life by Henry Cloud and John Townsend is another one of those books I kept intending to read, but always figured I had my act together in The Boundary Department.
I don’t really struggle with saying no, so I figured I’d get around to seeing what all the fuss was eventually.
Every time I turned on the radio it seemed like financial talk show host, author and businessman Dave Ramsey mentioned the book and regularly recommended it to listeners.
Then, years later my realtor daughter Libby raved about it.
The final push was when I opened my new Libro.fm account and there was Boundaries (the new updated & expanded version for the digital age) as one of the recommendations.
So, instead of reading the book, I listened to it and I’m SOLD.
Here are some of the topics:
- Can I set limits and still be a loving person?
- What are legitimate boundaries?
- How do I answer someone who wants my time, love, energy or money?
- How do I effectively manage my digital life so it doesn’t control me?
- How do I handle the demands of children or elderly parents?
Boundaries would be a great book to kick-start the New Year 2020 or depending on your perspective, wrap-up 2019 with a BANG! Either way, I highly recommend it.
Happy Reading!
I am adding this title to my ever growing list of must reads. Thank you for always recommending such great books. I am currently reading The Dutch House and listening to The Family Upstairs.
